Based on the available information, new recommendations, and improving data trends, PLEA will be returning to a hybrid instruction model starting on 2/8/2021. This will include in person instruction on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Thursday and Friday will remain virtual instruction days during this next phase. More information about this decision can be found here.
The Pennsylvania Department of Education provided updated guidance indicating that, effective 1/25/21, school programs in counties designated as having “Substantial Community Transmission” could return to in person instruction using a hybrid model provided they were able to employ significant mitigation strategies.
The letter sent home to families on 2/1/21 outlines the reasoning behind PLEA’s decision to return to in person instruction as well as the strategies in place to promote the safety, health, and well-being of our students, staff, and families.
Families should continue to review resources made available through this page as well as from their home school districts, Allegheny County, and the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
In order to re-open safely, PLEA has developed, in collaboration with important stakeholders, other schools, and public health officials, a set of practical and well-informed guidelines and protocols. You can download the current draft versions via the PDF forms below.
Return to in person instruction will utilize a hybrid model and following the Health and Safety protocols in this plan.
