Summer Camp

“If it weren’t for PLEA in the summer, I don’t know what our son would do…or for that matter what I would do. He really needs the daily structure the camp provides. And he needs to have a good time with friends his own age.”

The Summer Camp program provides structured recreational activities for children with serious emotional, behavioral and developmental disabilities. The camp gives the children an opportunity to experience fun summer activities with friends.

Designed for children ages 3-18, the goal of the program is to reinforce the behavior management lessons that children have learned during the school year. Emphasis at camp is on appropriate social skills and language development according to age and interests through fun activities such as: arts & crafts, free play, games, cooking activities, visits to neighborhood playgrounds and local attractions.

Children are placed according to age into one of our groups, with a maximum of ten children per group. An experienced group leader, assisted by two counselors, leads each group.  Structured programs are designed for each group based on individual needs.

PLEA Summer Camp . . . a chance to rekindle old friendships and build new ones.

To apply to our Summer Camp Program, please print and complete our Summer Camp Student Application and mail the form to PLEA at 733 South Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15221.
